I met Haley a long time ago from my Chinese dance years...also known as the awkward years. I'm pretty sure Haley has never even had an awkward day in her life. But anyway...after a couple years of minimal contact through Facebook, we met up in Hillsboro Village to take some photos for her new title as Miss Nashville, as well as some fun ones. Hope you like what you see! Also, many thanks to Philip for lending me his 50mm for this (and for making my blog look cool..but that's for another post)!

Weddings
This summer, I was lucky enough to intern with Dove Wedding Photography, which basically meant assisting in whatever way I could with various engagement, bridal, and day-after sessions. In addition, I was able to assist/second shoot with Katie of K. Mosley Photography at a couple weddings. Here's just a few favorites..

Senior Photos: Michelle
Although I'm pretty sure I've seen Michelle at school a total of maybe five times this year, we usually manage to be at Starbucks at the same time...so we survive. Or I do, anyway. I'm pretty sure most of the time I see Michelle, I just blab on and on about how she looks like a J. Crew model. She's probably tired of hearing it...but just look at her. It's not my fault.

Mary and Claire
So I know I'm a student and I'm not supposed to be of this mindset, but really....it's kind of ridiculous that we're out of school again. But hey, not gonna complain because it gave me time to edit and post these right away! Enjoy.

Heater is Fixed!! Thank the Lord.
Remember my awesome friends Mary and Claire from last January? They are not only beautiful, kind souls, but they have a crazy tolerance for the cold! So we did M & C freeze for Alice take II today, on our third snow day in a row. I so wish this could become a tradition (they probably don't), but sadly this is probably the last time we'll all be in town together when in snows..sad. Here's a couple favorites from last year in case you haven't seen them. Take II's post will be up tomorrow (on snow day #4)!!

Cate: Part I
Today I had to write down the date. 12....oh wait.
So I slyly inserted a dash between the two numbers and reluctantly added "/11." I'm always a little reluctant to accept a new year. Instead of being optimistic, my feelings tend to resonate more with Switchfoot's song "The Blues." But alas, I cannot deny the obvious.
It's interesting to me how every day is a new day and the transition from 12/31/__ to 1/1/__ is no different, but somehow the new year is so hyped up that we are all tricked into believing that this is when we change. Last year is in the past and January 1 is the start of a clean slate. So we make resolutions, we make promises to ourselves most of us never keep, we believe, if just for a little while, that we can be better.
I guess it's a good thing, really. So I told myself I wouldn't do this but since when did I listen to myself anyway?
A couple of my new year's resolution a day late:
- challenge myself.
- meditate (engage in contemplation) daily.
- exercise more, eat better.
- patience.
- get up to date in the news.
- read 5 nonfiction books.
- be happy wherever i end up.
- listen to myself more.
Here's to challenging myself pre-2011: I never shoot indoors because I always assume the lighting will suck but I've realized that's just a huge cop-out, so when I shot Cate a couple days ago, we started off in her room, with just window light and a lamp (I know this kind of lighting is not recommended but I thought it gave a pretty sweet effect). Let me know what you think!
